Oh, How Pinteresting! & Wordless (TV I Heart)

Wednesday... OHP... Visit Michelle...See my Pins below.
Got it? Good.
~ Hope your week is going well! ~

This week I decided to go with another "theme".  Looking through my Pins, I realized I sure love a lot of HBO shows.  I also own a lot of TV series on DVD.  The shelf of DVDs could easily pass for an HBO commercial.
I should mention, I have a bit of an obsession with having complete, matching sets of things!
Here is a glimpse into the series I own.  I haven't necessarily watched every season of all of them, but I have years and years of entertainment in my TV stand.
(In case DirecTV ever pisses me off...?)

ROME
This is probably the first series I REALLY got into on HBO. I had recently finished reading a novel relating to the Romans and this show premiered at just the right time to draw me in.  I am sad it only aired for 2 seasons.  :-(
(P.S. Titus Pullo is way high on my list of imaginary character crushes.)

The Office
OK, this one's not HBO, but it is one I love.  Having worked in an office since college, it's so (ridiculously)  familiar, I just couldn't help falling in love when it first came on the air all those years ago.
We've kind of stopped watching it lately (mainly because my BF gets too uncomfortable watching it sometimes!) but I fully intend to complete my collection on DVD.

Game of Thrones
Only one season on DVD so far (although i suspect season 2 will be out for Christmas)...
I read all of the books that Game of Thrones is based on, and am not so patiently eagerly awaiting the next one.  It might be years for the next book, but I read that the 3rd book (my favorite in the series) is going to be split into 2 season.
I.can.not.wait.

The Tudors
I have a major healthy obsession with all things Tudor.
When I heard Showtime was going to air this show, I almost peed myself.  I loved it.
It wasn't extremely accurate (trust me, I know) and I wasn't thrilled with the physical appearance of Jonathan Rhys Meyers at first.  But I got used to him and I think he did a great job.

Deadwood
After Rome ended, my mom recommended Deadwood to me, and I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did.  I loved it.  From start to finish.
I laughed, I cried, I was shocked.  It's a great show.

Big Love
Since Rome and Deadwood were so great, I started watching basically everything HBO was putting out.  Big Love is fascinating, and (like Deadwood, well I guess like all HBO shows) there are so many shocking moments, it really keeps you on your toes.

Treme
I actually started watching this one (out of order, which I NEVER do) because it came on after Game of Thrones every time it aired for the first time.
And I got sucked in. By the music, by the characters, by the city of New Orleans.
This show is passionate.

Mad Men
Also not HBO, but Mad Men is definitely climbing on my favorites list as I progress through the series.  My brother (Dr. Bro) introduced me to this one.
I love the clothes and the cars!

That about wraps it up.
Hours and hours (probably weeks and weeks) of TV series, in case of a TV emergency.  :-)
Like I said on Tuesday Tunes, if you also own all of these DVD sets...
Let's plan a blate sometime.  :-)

Even though I blabbed away today,
I'm going to link up with some of these ladies for "Wordless Wednesday"

Be BRAVE! (Giveaway!)

This OHP Wednesday is dedicated to all things Scottish and Disney/Pixar's BRAVE!

If you are here from Perception is Everything, WELCOME!
I love Janna, she has been such a sweetheart to me as I try to grow my blog and make new friends.  Please follow me, over on the right.   :-)   ----->

******************************
I might have mentioned my love for the Outlander series (by Diana Gabaldon)...
once or twice before.
Well, reading those books got me really interested in Scotland.

I fell in lust love with Kevin McKidd (ok, and Ray Stevenson) after watching Rome, on HBO.

And then, of course, men in kilts don't hurt either...
(Nice view! heheheh)

Am I right??

I actually have a point here, and the point is this...

I have been DYING to see the new Disney/Pixar move BRAVE, since I first heard about it via Kevin McKidd's FB page!  :-)
I know it was in the theaters for a while but we just aren't movie people.  My BF has back and joint problems and it's difficult for him to sit still for that long! (Like a toddler, I swear.)
So, that leaves me with waiting for the DVD or even HBO.  Once in a blue moon I'll buy a movie, if I am really interested.
Well, luckily for me, I don't have to buy BRAVE, because I was graciously given a copy to review...
AAAAND one to GIVE AWAY TO ONE OF YOU!!
How awesome if that?
Obviously my love of all things Disney (and maybe Scotland!) is well known.  haha

So, here are the things I loved:

Set in Scotland? CHECK
(What can I say?  I have an obsession. Highland games, hoorah!)

Sexy Lovely Scottish accents? CHECK
(See above. Obsession. I can't wait to sit down and watch some of the extras that are included on the DVD, just for MORE ACCENTS!)

An adorable, feisty heroine with gorgeous red hair? CHECK
(Really, that hair is to die for! So vibrant and realistic looking! I love how detailed Disney/Pixar stuff is. )

New songs to sing along to? CHECK
(Honestly, before I even saw the movie or got this opportunity - I'm talking months ago - I had 2 songs from the soundtrack downloaded to my iPod. I love Disney music, it's one thing that never fails to make me smile. I also really like Celtic music, modern and not so modern, and loved hearing the Celtic instruments. Mumford and Sons being on the soundtrack doesn't hurt either!!)

A mystical/magical vibe that I really love? CHECK
(I took quite a few literature classes in college that discussed magical realism, and I've always been a fan of "believable" magic. Loved the will-o'-the-wisps, the witch and her spell, all of it. )

Amazing Scottish scenery? CHECK
(It's breathtaking, even for an animated feature! A special blog friend of mine who has visited Scotland many times and actually SAW BRAVE in the theater there(!!) confirmed the scenery is amazing and extremely true to real life. I'll have to take her word for it since I have only been there in my dreams.  *sigh*)

Important messages?  CHECK
(As with all things Disney, there are lessons and morals.  Among many things, Merida learns to stand up for herself, to challenge tradition, to remember where she came from, to (finally) listen to her mama, and to be BRAVE! )

I could go on but I think you get the idea.
I loved the movie and am thrilled to have this opportunity to add it to my Disney collection for when I have kids (and can teach them to love all things Disney/Pixar as much as I do)!!

And, in case you missed it, I (may) HAVE ONE FOR YOU!
(Hopefully you, yes you! You who is reading this post at this very moment!
To be sure they've covered all the bases this is a multi disc collectors edition, and you get a copy in basically every format I've ever heard of!  (DVD, BluRay, 3D, digital)
Get to entering below!!

In case you don't win or want more than one copy, you can grab it HERE on Amazon.

*As mentoned above, I received a copy of this film to review.
All opinions are (obviously?) my own.
I'm not sure Disney even thought about the sexy Scottish accent factor.
Probably did though, they are marketing geniuses.

OHP & Wordless (Halloween!)

Happy Wednesday my friends!
I worked from home yesterday so this week is feeling a bit mixed up for me.
Glad we've made it to hump day, though!

On this edition of Oh, How Pinteresting (as you might have been able to guess...?) I picked some Halloween related pins to share!!

What have you got going on for tonight?
If you are dealing with Sandy, I hope you stay safe!
Personally, tonight I'll be hanging at home,
waiting for small, scary creatures to come knocking.
And perhaps trying to get our dogs to sit still (in costume!!) for some pics.
