4/52 Sunshiney Day

Last week was our little guy's 8 month birthday.  It's seriously amazing how the time flies.
He seems to be THISCLOSE to crawling, which is both exciting and scary!
He's a champion eater.
He sleeps great sometimes and not so great other times.
He delights us with his smiles and personality every single day.
We love him to the moon and back.

A picture of my son, once a week, every week, in 2014

Hanging outside in his Go-Pod while Daddy mowed the lawn last weekend.
It's been gorgeous weather here and it was a really nice day to be out in the fresh air, and he loves spending time with Daddy.
(Yep, we're still rocking some Christmas clothing.
It just seems silly to put it away after one wear if it still fits!)

Some of my favorites from last weeks pics:
Roman's wispy hair and smile remind me of my baby.
Evita has got to be the coolest toddler around with her skateboard.
TOI's extremely new family of four is adorable.

3/52 Bath Time Boy

I'm back again, a bit late... again.  haha

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2014

This boy, he LOVES his baths.  He splashes and laughs and generally has a grand time!  (This pic is courtesy of my Mom.)   Up until last week he screamed and cried when we took him out, but lately he seems a little less upset about it.
His blue eyes just slay me!  We are really hoping they stay blue, like his Daddy's.  At almost 8 month, that seems a safe assumption, but Google says they can change up to 18months so still keeping my fingers crossed.

We love you SO, SO, SO much, little man.
xoxoxo  Mama

In other news:  there isn't much!   Life is so different with a baby.  I basically spend all my non-working time with him.  The time goes so fast! He'll be 8 months old this week and I feel like I just found out I was pregnant.  I am still hoping to get back into semi-regular blogging eventually.  But I can't be sure when I will have the time to do more than post a bunch of baby pics.  Hopefully that's not too annoying!  :-)

Well, hello. Anybody out there? (1&2/52)

What can I say...
Life gets busy and changes and you change and get busy...and... I had a baby!
The most wonderful, crazy, amazing, scary, fun experience of my life.

To try to prompt myself back into blogging I thought I'd start with the 52 week project...
One picture a week (of a particular subject, can you guess what mine will be??  haha) for 52 weeks.
I am obviously already behind since today is January 9th but... I'll post 2 (ok 3) to make up for it.

The first two don't really follow the idea of the 52 week project, as I think it's meant to show how something (in most cases a child) grows/changes over the year, but I wanted to have a starting point.
 ***********************************************************
My little guy was born early (31.5 weeks) and only weighed 2lbs 12oz.
This is us just minutes after he was born, back in May!

Here he is getting his nightly weigh in at the hospital (where he spent 5+ weeks finishing cooking!)...  I thought he was so big at 3lbs 7oz!!  hahaha

Here he is yesterday being ridiculously adorable and shopping with Nana.  This is actually the first time he has sat in the cart, I usually just take the whole carseat with me, but his Nana (my mother-in-law, who watches him for us) didn't feel like lugging the whole thing in for a quick trip.
He looks so grown up (for an almost 8 month old)!!

So... that's what I've been doing since I blogged last!
Growing, birthing, and taking care of a baby.
He's changed my life in so many ways I couldn't even begin to explain them.
Just think of every cliche out there about babies, and they pretty much all apply.

P.S.  I have still been reading blogs, and trying to comment when I get a chance!
I realized after previewing this post I need to do some updating to my blog, particularly my "About Me", my buttons, other people's buttons, and my Link Love page!  *sigh*  Maybe one of these days...
Happy New Year to you all!

Little Bit of Life... and The Croods!

Hola amigas!   I want to pop in and give an abbreviated update on life, with grand plans of coming back later this week to do a proper post/update.

Also want to do a quick preview of a cute movie coming theaters later this week!
(And yes, I received related products in compensation for this post...
i.e. An adorable BELT plush toy!! But, of course, all opinions are my own!)

I meant to post this sooner but my CAR GOT STOLEN last week (Thursday night/Friday morning to be precise) so...obviously dealing with that got me a bit off track.   Luckily the police actually FOUND IT Friday afternoon!  Insane, amazing, frustrating...grrr!!!   So for now it is in the shop, getting evaluated and fixed and I am driving a tiny rental car that is nothing like my beloved Camry.  :-(   I'm definitely glad they found it and it seems mostly OK (besides the busted window & missing electronics from inside) but it's all just a hassle to deal with.

Then I went to Disneyland yesterday with my mom and aunt (visiting from Maine) so I was exhausted by the time I got home last night.  It was a fun day, though, and GREAT springtime weather.

Anyhow...back to the movie preview!   I have seen the TV commercials for this movie a few times and it's from the creators of How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, and Kung Fu Panda, all of which we really enjoyed!   (Yes, we watch cartoons/kids movies, and have no kids yet.  Whatever.)
In case you've missed the ads, it's basically about a cave family trying to adapt to the changing world around them.
Right away I recognized the father's voice as Nicolas Cage.  His rules for survival are to never leave the cave, not try anything new, and don't be curious.  The daughter (Eep) is voiced by Emma Stone, who I think is adorable.  She, of course, wants to leave the cave, and is curious about everything.  There is also a guy (named Guy - hehe) who is trying to spread the word about changes that are happening around them and need to be dealt with, voiced by Ryan Reynolds.  I'm not sure what role Belt, a sloth, plays (I'd guess a funny sidekick, based on what I've read/seen), but he's pretty damn cute if you ask me.

I'm sure there will be plenty for the little ones in this movie, but what I like is how it looks like it will be funny and appealing to adults, too.   We don't go to the movies often but we do watch lots of them on TV and we definitely find ourselves watching plenty of cartoons for the humor in them.   Honestly, the last movie we saw at a theater (which was the DRIVE IN!) was Madagascar 3 (also same creators).  So, it's really not a stretch to think we will really enjoy this one.  Might even have to make another trip to the drive in, just to catch it!

I had fun clicking around the movie website and watching the trailers and clips.  It really looks like it is going to be funny, cute, and entertaining... exactly what I've come to expect from Dreamworks.

It was nice to take my mind of the car trouble and do a little reconnaissance on this movie.   I'm thinking I'll talk my BF into taking my next weekend for a fun date night.  :-)
